Ponting is the worst captain of Australia in living memory.  He fails to captain the team and justs waits for something to happen.  He has no idea on field placings or bowling attack and he needs to get the flick. He has also failed with the bat so he has offereded nothing to the team so far.

The ACB had no problem with sacking other captains like Steve Waugh when they showed the slightest loss in batting etc so why are they protecting Ponting?

So he 'waits for things to happen', yet the general consensus in the media has been that he is trying too much!

Yes, Steve Waugh was stood down as one day captain, but not as test captain.   That decision was so poorly thought out and without merit that Australia won the World cup undefeated straight after it was made( despite having Warne sent home in disgrace after testing positive to a banned substance).
Ponting won an Ashes series 5-0 and also won 16 tests in a row. Would hate to see what would have happened  if he could actually captain.  Or perhaps, the national selectors living memory extends to more than the 90 nanoseconds that amoeba like you have for memory

So because Ponting doesn't have Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist, Hayden anymore he has instantly become the worst captain ever since we don't win every single test series? You obviously don't know Allan Border then, because he lost quite a few series too after Lillee, Chappell, Marsh all retired. Did you also consider that Steve Waugh and Mark Taylor had the services of Warne and McGrath in their sides? If they didn't have those match-winning players I'm sure you would be saying the same things towards them too! Most of us agree that Ponting isn't the best tactician but he is a tough nut and has lead our team proudly for a good 5 years as captain. When he is probably flicked by CA or retires himself at the end of the series, Clarke will be captain and I highly doubt he'll magically turn the side into the best test team again until some of our young guns mature and turn into regular match-winners for us.

The mark of a good leader is how he reacts under pressure. He hasn't really been given a chance to prove he has the cojones to come back from this. Having said that, this is probably the worst Australian bowling attack for many years, and you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Maybe not, but you can make a pretty decent vagina out of a bbq chook.
