Hawke skols beer in modern SCG tradition
The SCG's favourite tradition has arrived: former Prime Minister Bob Hawke has skolled his beer to the delight of the crowd.
Or more specifically, Shane Warne.
The 88-year-old appeared on the silver screen between deliveries on day two, with a full beer in hand.
Hawke spotted or was alerted to the fact that he was on TV and wasted no time downing an Ashes ale.
"Here he comes! Go on, Bobby, show us your technique," Warnie exclaimed.
"He doesn't sip it, he gets it down in one."
It did take him a while to get through it, however, as Channel Nine had to cut away to see Pat Cummins send a delivery down to England's Stuart Broad.
"You've gotta say it's a pretty poor effort," said former England skipper Michael Vaughan.
Warnie was still loving it: "Well done, Bob. Great work, superstar."
