Is this the weirdest bowling action in world cricket?

Video has emerged of a young Sri Lankan spinner flummoxing his opponents with one of the strangest bowling actions you'll ever see.

Kevin Koththigoda, an 18-year-old leg-spinner, is currently playing in Malaysia for the Sri Lanka Under-19 team at the Youth Asia Cup.

Koththigoda starred in the team's 61-run win over Afghanistan recently, and has since gone viral because of his highly unorthodox action.

The youngster looks very similar to former South African spinner Paul Adams, who was known as the 'frog in a blender'.

"He has a very unusual action. It's like that of Paul Adams," teammate Dhammika Sudarshan recently told CricBuzz.

"The action wasn't coached or anything, it came naturally to him.

"Initially, he was struggling with the length as he couldn't see the pitch, but he has improved tremendously."

Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva played alongside Koththigoda in school cricket, and says the strange action is "incredible".

"Since his action is unique, the batsmen get confused. He has got a very bright future ahead of him," Sudarshana said.

"He has an incredible action, but lands the ball in the right areas."

However Koththigoda may have some rivals for title of 'weirdest action in world cricket'.

Indian spinner Shivil Kaushik gained international attention during the IPL in 2016 when he took a number of wickets, including Aussies Glenn Maxwell and Shaun Marsh.

And Blake Coburn is making waves in domestic New Zealand cricket with this insane bowling action.

The 21-year-old left-arm wrist spinner took 7-64 in his second first class appearance recently, helping Canterbury to an eight-run victory over Rangiora.
