'One of the most bizarre dismissals you'll see'

Matthew Wade has been dismissed in highly unusual fashion during a shocking match that looks to have severely dented his Ashes hopes.

The Test wicket-keeper is under immense pressure to retain his spot for this summer's Ashes series, and his performance on Tuesday would have done him no favours at all.

Wade took his place behind the stumps for Tasmania's domestic one-day clash with Queensland, but his day got off to a horror start when he grassed a simple chance from Usman Khawaja.

The Test batsman got a thin edge behind, but Wade dropped the absolute sitter and Khawaja went on to make 41, helping the Bulls amass a whopping total of 339.

If that wasn't bad enough for Wade, he suffered an embarrassing mishap when it was his turn to bat.

Wade managed to make 38 in Tasmania's chase before he was dismissed in bizarre fashion.

The diminutive lefty attempted to sweep a Mitchell Swepson delivery down the leg side when he somehow managed to scoop the ball around to short third man on the off side.

Wade appeared to hit the ball twice, redirecting the ball straight to a Queensland fielder for an easy catch.

"That is one of the most bizarre dismissals you will ever see," commentators said.

Aussie greats Adam Gilchrist and Michael Slater both recently called for Wade to make way for Peter Nevill for the Ashes.

The NSW keeper is arguably the best gloveman in the country and recently showed his prowess behind the stumps with a world record eight dismissals in a one-day game.
