English batsman makes history with six sixes in one over

Worcestershire batsman Ross Whiteley has joined a very exclusive club by blasting a perfect 36 in one over.

Whiteley took Yorkshire spinner Karl Carver for six sixes during the 16th over of Worcestershire's innings in an English Twenty20 match.

"It was the right time in the game for me to go for it," Whiteley said.

"It was all or nothing. Unfortunately for the bowler it was a short boundary on the leg-side.

"I had the mentality that I was going to go for it before I got in. I hit the first out of the screws and needed to keep going for the team, not for that achievement.

Whiteley joins Garry Sobers (West Indies), Ravi Shastri (India), Herschelle Gibbs (South Africa) and Yuvraj Singh (India) as the only players in history to achieve the remarkable feat in first class, one-day or T20 cricket.

Aussie Marcus Stoinis achieved the feat in a practice match in 2015, while West Indian Kieron Pollard did the same in a pre-season Big Bash match in 2014.

The Englishman went on to make 65 off 26 balls as Worcestershire went down by 37 runs.
