Renshaw sprints off with unfortunate case of Delhi belly

Aussie opener Matt Renshaw has been forced to retire ill after stomach complaints in the first session at Pune.

Immediately after David Warner's dismissal in the first session of the First Test against India, Renshaw was clearly in a lot of discomfort.

He attempted to the leave the pitch before he was called back by the umpire to explain why he had to leave.

Clearly in a massive rush, Renshaw pleaded his case before sprinting as fast as he could off the pitch - evidently he couldn't hold on too much longer.

Shaun Marsh was then forced to race to the crease to cover for the ill opener.

Renshaw had scored 36 of 89 balls before he left the pitch.

AB would have been 'ropeable' if captain and Renshaw left

While former Australian captain Allan Border was rapt with the 20-year-old's ability with the bat, he wasn't too pleased with his decision to retire ill.

"Such a shame that we saw he had to go off 15 minutes before lunch," Border said on Fox Sports.

"I hope he's lying on the table in there half-dead because otherwise as a captain I would not be happy."

Meanwhile, the internet was having a field day at the tall Aussie's expense.

Renshaw managed to recover enough to resume his innings later in the day, making an impressive 68 as the Aussies reached 9-256 at stumps.
