Hazlewood denied superbly casual one-handed catch

Australia bowler Josh Hazlewood was kicking himself after a stray foot denied him a spectacular one-handed catch against New Zealand.

The Aussie quick was fielding out in the deep when Kiwi batsman Neil Broom smashed a shot that looked destined to go for six runs.

Hazelwood, as casually as you could get, stuck out his right arm and plucked the ball out of the air to the amazement of those at Eden Park.

"What a catch, can you believe that," commentator Ian Smith exclaimed.

"I thought for all money that it was going to carry. What a catch!"

But the celebrations were short-lived as a sheepish Hazlewood soon realised he may have stepped on the boundary rope.

The big quick signaled for a review, and the third umpire quickly confirmed the bad news that his screamer wouldn't stand.

There was only a matter of centimetres in it, but after taking the brilliant catch the replays showed Hazlewood's foot just brushed the rope before it hit the ground.

"He's picked the spot there too where the rope's come in a little bit.

"What a catch though. What a brilliant catch!"

Brilliant as it was, unfortunately for Hazlewood it only resulted in six runs for New Zealand.
