Cricketer's inspirational effort after losing artificial leg

An English cricketer has brought new meaning to the terms ‘guts’ and ‘determination’ with an extraordinary piece of fielding in a T20 match.

In a wonderful embodiment of the ‘never-say-die’ attitude coaches demand from their players, Liam Thomas refused to give up even though his prosthetic leg fell off during a match.

Thomas was fielding for the England Physical Disabilities (PD) team in their match against Pakistan, when he chased down a shot that was rocketing towards the boundary.

The England man dived full-stretch to deny Pakistan what looked like a certain four-runs, but his artificial limb broke off as he clattered into the ground.

Thomas wasn't about to let a missing leg prevent him from fielding.

The setback may have stopped lesser men but Thomas refused to give up on his outfield duties, as he hopped towards the ball on one leg, scooped it up and threw it back to the wicketkeeper.

It was the sort of inspirational play that deserved to end in victory, but unfortunately for England they ended up going down by three wickets.
