Afghan batsman invents the 'cockroach shot'

The unconventional side of T20 cricket was on full display during Sri Lanka's victory over Afghanistan at the World Twenty20 on Friday.

Afghanistan's Samiullah Shenwari made a very handy 31 off 13 balls in an innings that featured three fours and two sixes.

But one of those fours came via a highly unconventional stroke that saw Shenwari fall flat on his backside.

Shenwari overbalanced and lost his footing completely, falling over with his arms and legs pointing to the sky like a cockroach.

Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan then showed him how it's done with his patented 'Dilscoop.'

The diminutive right-hander ducked his head and played a modified ramp shot off the bowling of Dawlat Zadran that sailed over the fine leg boundary for a maximum.

Dilshan notched an unbeaten 83 to help Sri Lanka open its title defence with a six-wicket win.
