Disgruntled cabbie crashes cricket match

A match in Queensland's Warehouse Cricket Association B1 fixture between Macgregor and Griffith University came to an abrupt halt on the weekend when a taxi driver drove his cab onto the field.

The disgruntled cabbie didn't take too kindly to a straight drive from Macgregor's Nigel Sherborne flying over the rope and smashing the windscreen of his parked car.

He decided to vent his anger in unique fashion, driving onto DM Henderson Park and parking right in the middle of the pitch between innings.

"Nigel hit a straight drive off Tom English for six smashing into a parked cabbie," Macgregor secretary Troy Burns wrote on the club's Facebook page.

"Not happy and in protest he then drove onto the field and parked in the centre of the pitch."

Police had to be called in and the cabbie eventually moved his car, but not before the game lost eight overs before play resumed.
