One run off the bat: Records tumble in lowest T20 score of all time

The Mali women’s national side have registered the lowest T20 international total of all time.

Taking part in the 2019 Kwibuka Women’s Twenty20 Tournament in Rwanda recently - a tournament with full international status - Mali were bowled out for 6.

The innings somehow lasted nine overs, but only one batter troubled the scorers as nine others were dismissed for 0.

Opener Mariam Samake made 1, with the other five runs coming via extras.

Josiane Nyirankundineza picked up 3-0, while Marie Diane Bimenyimana and Margueritte Vumiliya snagged two wickets of their own.

In reply, Rwanda openers Antoinette Uwimbabazi and Nyirankundineza knocked off the runs in four balls.

The victory with 116 balls remaining is also a world record.

The previous record for lowest T20I total ever was 14, achieved by China against UAE in January at the Women's T20 Smash in Bangkok.

That was in reply to the UAE’s 3-203, with the 189-run victory margin remaining the biggest in terms of runs.
