Controversial MMA fighter destroys rival in 17-second KO

Controversial mixed martial arts fighter, Greg Hardy, has moved a step closer to a potential UFC debut after decimating an opponent in a ruthless 17-second knockout win.

The ex-NFL star made his latest brutal mark in the octagon with a vicious first round knockout of Tebaris Gordon in his second professional MMA bout.

The former Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys defensive end is competing in the “Dana White Tuesday Night Contender Series” in Las Vegas.

Hardy, who was charged with domestic violence and suspended by the NFL, knocked out Tebaris Gordon with a devastating flurry of punches to improve his professional record to 2-0.

All five of Hardy’s fights since leaving the NFL, including three amateur fights, have ended in knockout victories for him.

At least one participant in the show is offered a multi-fight deal by UFC at the end of each episode.

Hardy was already awarded a UFC developmental contract by White after recording a 57-second knockout win over fellow ex-NFL player Austen Lane in his professional debut on the show in June.

However, the big-hitting hard man’s participation in the sport has been heavily criticised because of his chequered past.

Despite seeing his domestic violence charges dropped, the NFL upheld his suspension after an investigation found he used significant force against his former girlfriend.

He was also arrested for cocaine possession in 2016.

UFC president Dana White says Hardy should at least be given the chance to turn his life around.

“What the guy did was horrible,” White said.

“He got off drugs. He got off alcohol. Hit rock bottom. And then, built himself back up.

“He has a second chance here. He turned his life around.
