Of all the things for a footballer to be allergic to, grass would have to be one of the most unfortunate. And that's exactly what Bordeaux's Yoan Gouffran suffers from, according to a report in Le Parisien.
Such an allergy is, of course, a major impediment to a professional football who will play 36 of les Girondins’ 38 games this season on the surface, and as a result, the 24-year-old former Caen star has been forced to see an allergist in order to alleviate or at least control the problem.
“For a footballer, it's embarrassing,” [Bordeaux manager] Jean Tigana told the capital-based publication. “He would have [been better to] play on synthetic pitches in Nancy or Lorient.”
But, he doesn't. Let's look at the bright side, though -- you never have to worry about Gouffran taking a dive. Such an offense would be more an act of masochism than cheating.
