'Colossal goalkeeper' stuns football world with 'unbelievable' save

Liverpool are through to the last 16 of the Champions League with a 1-0 win over Napoli at Anfield.

Striker Mohamed Salah netted the winner in the 34th minute in front of a delirious home crowd.

But it would have been Liverpool missing out had Alisson not produced a reflex save to deny Napoli substitute Arkadiusz Milik in the second minute of stoppage time.

Liverpool midfielder James Milner told BT Sport: “Unbelievable save from Ally (Alisson). I think it was a fantastic performance all the way through and Mo’s goal, he’s a match-winner, he’s a world-class player, you need that sometimes in these games and he’s changed the game again.

“It was always going to be a tough game, they are a good team. It was a really good performance. We knew defensively that was what was going to win us the game, we had to be on the front foot.

“The first game (against Napoli) I don’t think they experienced how we can defend at all, it was a really poor performance. So I thought we defended really well all through the game (tonight) front to back.”

The only negative of the evening for Juergen Klopp’s side was centre back Virgil van Dijk collecting a yellow card that means he will be suspended for the first leg of the round of 16.

Tottenham Hotspur also progressed with Lucas Moura scoring the all-important equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Barcelona at Nou Camp.

Spurs were aided by Inter Milan’s surprise 1-1 draw at home with Dutch club PSV Eindhoven.

Moura scored from a pass by Harry Kane in the 85th minute, cancelling out a superb early solo goal by Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele.

Barcelona rested Lionel Messi for the first hour having already locked up first place before the match.

In France, Raphael Guerreiro scored twice as Borussia Dortmund concluded their Champions League group stage campaign with a 2-0 win at Monaco that sealed top spot for the German club.

Guerreiro scored a goal in each half at Stade Louis II against a poor Monaco side that struggled throughout and failed to win for a 14th consecutive match in the competition.

Dortmund finished level on points with Atletico in Group A and sealed top spot thanks to a better goal difference after Atletico drew 0-0 at Club Brugge.

PSG, meanwhile, went on the rampage against Socceroo Milos Degenek’s Red Star Belgrade beating the home team 4-1 to top Group C.

All three forwards Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe scored in an intimidating atmosphere at Red Star’s Rajko Mitic stadium, and midfielder Marquinhos was also on target to cancel out a sumptuous volley by Red Star defender Marko Gobeljic.

In Tuesday’s early action , Porto struggled to a 3-2 away victory over Galatasaray but the Turks stayed third in Group D to secure a spot in the Europa League’s round of 32.

Felipe, Moussa Marega and Sergio Oliviera scored for Porto while Sofiane Fenghouli and Eren Derdiyok netted for Galatasaray.

Lokomotiv Moscow were equally desperate for a win against already-qualified and injury-hit Schalke 04 to have any hope of snatching third place away from Galatasaray but went down 1-0 to a goal from Alessandro Schoepf.
