'Bad sport': Paul Gallen blasted for savaging judges in Melbourne

Paul Gallen was slammed on social media for his comments immediately after the anti-climatic majority decision draw against Barry Hall in the Code War fight in Melbourne.

Gallen has luckily never worried about his popularity in Melbourne, with it sinking to a low after slamming the judges.

The ex-NSW and Cronulla captain had a running battle with the Melbourne Storm and their captain Cameron Smith over his long NRL career.

But he's made plenty of new enemies in AFL territory after lashing the judges and referee post-fight.

Gallen said he was happy to take on AFL legend again - if they could find new judges.

"One judge had it right and the other two had it wrong," Gallen to the jeers of the Melbourne crowd.

"I'm more than happy to do it again ... but we will have to get some judges who can score.

"He caught me with some good shots but I landed more than double."

Fans on social media labelled Gallen a “bad sport” following his comments immediately after the bout.

Gallen complained about the amount of stoppages due to Hall grabbing him through the fight, which was only six two-minute rounds instead of three-minute rounds.

"Every round he was warned, which took 20 or 30 seconds a round to give him a break," Gallen said.

"He survived - that's all he did and I give him credit for that but how you get points on surviving I don't know."

Gallen said he planned an island holiday before contemplating another fight, with Sonny Bill Williams, who is returning to rugby league, still an option.

"I finished a 19 year career and went straight into training for this so I've had no break whatsoever," the 38-year-old said.

"I'm just ready to have a drink to be honest."
