Quarterback's heartbreaking reaction to girlfriend becoming online sensation

AJ McCarron was on a high after leading Alabama to a BCS Championship, but was lost for words in a post-game interview upon hearing how popular his girlfriend had become online.

Katherine Webb, an Auburn University graduate, winner of Miss Alabama 2012 and partner of McCarron became an overnight sensation after she was featured in the broadcast of the game.

During shots of Webb watching her beau play in the biggest college football game of the year, excited commentary from caller Brent Musberger forced ESPN to issue an apology yesterday.

"You see that lovely lady there," Musberger started.

"Wow, I'm telling you, you quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women. What a beautiful woman. Wow! Whoa!"

And it seemed many agreed with Musberger.

Attracting over 20 million viewers in the US every year, Webb's Twitter followers went from a couple of hundred to over 100,000 within a few hours.

In an interview immediately after the game, McCarron was stunned to hear the news and did not believe reporters saying LeBron James, champion basketballer was now following her.

"I'm gonna tweet him. I'm gonna get a follow. That's messed up [sic]" he said.

"She's got more followers than me now".

As of today, Webb has amassed almost 250,000 followers.
