Justin Bieber faces ban from Philippines for Pacquiao jibe

Justin Bieber appears to have finally found a way to win over the 18-30 male demographic.

Unfortunately for the 18-year-old pop singer, it may come at the cost a ban from entering the Philippines.

Following Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao’s emphatic KO at the fists of perennial rival Juan Manuel Marquez earlier this month, the Canadian teen took to his Instagram account and posted photoshopped images of the unconscious fighter.

In one, the late Michael Jackson is inserted in the ring, clad in his outfit from hit song ‘Smooth Criminal’ paraphrasing the hit song’s line “Manny are you ok, are you ok Manny?”

In the other, the Simba character from the Disney movie The Lion King is placed on Pacquiao as he lays out cold on his stomach with the caption “Dad, wake up” – a mock-up of the scene where, * SPOILER ALERT,* Simba’s father King Mufasa is killed:

Pacquiao released a statement saying he would pray for Beiber, but fellow Filipino politicians have not been quite so passive.

“Mr. Bieber should have known that the Hon. Pacquiao has reached his stature as such as a result of sheer hard work, determination and firm belief in God, and despite such stature best exemplifies humility and grace even in defeat,” said a collection of seven congressmen for the Philippines.

The members have filed a resolution demanding an apology from Bieber for what they deem “distasteful comments … lest he be declared persona non grata”.
