Socceroos lose friendly against Romania

The Socceroos have gone down to Romania 3-2, with a late capitulation costing them the game.

Romania got on the scoreboard first with a goal to Cristian Tanase in the 35th minute, but Australia equalised just before halftime thanks to a penalty. Alex Brosque was brought down in the box, allowing Luke Wilkshire to finish from the spot.

Out of the half Australia dominated as Romania took their foot off the pedal. Cornthwaite was the unlikely scorer of the Socceroos' second goal, giving the Aussies the 2-1 lead.

But that's when the Socceroos' momentum halted, as the Romanians began creating chances again.

Poor defending allowed Bogdan Stancu to equalize from close range off a cross, before a beautiful free kick right on the edge of the box saw Stancu curl one into the top right of the net, sealing the win for Romania.
