- I know you don't want to do it, but you're going to have to do it. You're going to have to be confident, and you're going to have to not be scared, and you're going to have to draft Christian McCaffrey with your first two picks in fantasy football this year.
I know, I know. The injury risk is real. That's a problem. He could miss time at any point. It's been terrible the last two years. But nobody in fantasy, not even Jonathan Taylor, combines Christian McCaffrey's weekly floor and weekly ceiling and season-long floor, if he stays healthy, and season-long ceiling.
I mean, there's just nobody that gets usage like Christian McCaffrey at the goal line, in the rushing game, and in the passing game. It's just-- it's the best role in fantasy football, period.
So the Panthers' offense could actually be a little bit better this year, too, if you think about it. I mean, Baker Mayfield or whatever you want to say about him, is better than Sam Darnold or Teddy Bridgewater or some of these guys like PJ Walker that have taken snaps for the Panthers of late. They added and fortified their offensive line with a top 10 pick in the NFL draft and a few other additions as well.
This Panthers offense could be slightly better. But the thing is, the Panthers offense can stink and Christian McCaffrey can still smash in fantasy because his role is so good. So yeah, I know the injury questions are real, but you're going to have to close your eyes and just draft him with the top two pick and just, I don't know, light a candle, cross your fingers, whatever, that he stays healthy this year.
Right now I've got him for just under 2,000 yards from scrimmage, 10 total touchdowns, and 92 catches. I mean, he's my running back two this year and I'm not concerned about it.
