Three Chelsea stars have made a little Aussie boy’s dreams come true after dropping in to the youngster’s Perth home for a surprise barbecue.
Down Under for their pre-season friendly against A-League’s Glory, the Chelsea stars took time out from their busy schedules to visit four-year-old Hudson McCarthy and his family.
The adorable youngster had emailed a video to Chelsea a few weeks before they headed to Australia and invited the squad for an authentic Aussie barbecue at his home.
Incredibly, his wish was granted by Maurizio Sarri’s team as they arranged a special visit on Sunday evening.
Hudson’s parents told him he was allowed to stay up a little later than normal as his grandparents were coming to see him.
So, it was to his amazement that he was greeted by David Luiz, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Ethan Ampadu when he opened the door.
The trio played football in the back garden as wacky-haired Luiz gave the youngster tips on his free-kick technique.
They then went inside for some traditional Aussie tucker to cap off an unforgettable night for the Chelsea fan.
Hudson and his family would have been delighted to watch their team begin life under their new manager with a win against the Glory in front of 55,522 fans at Optus Stadium on Monday night.
It was Sarri’s first match in charge of the Blues since taking over from his compatriot Antonio Conte.
The Italian has earned the job after impressing with Napoli in Serie A and the Champions League.
Chelsea winger Pedro opened the scoring in the fifth minute, but the 2018 FA Cup champions were well held after that, with Glory goalkeeper Liam Reddy pulling off a series of sharp saves.
Perth threatened to snatch an equaliser late in the game following the introduction of Diego Castro, Jason Davidson, Juande, and Brendon Santalab.
But it wasn’t to be, with Glory forced to settle for a respectable loss.
Chelsea were missing their World Cup stars, with the likes of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, N’Golo Kante, Willian, and Olivier Giroud given holiday time after soccer’s showpiece event.
But the EPL giants still boasted a talent-laden starting line-up that featured Cesc Fabregas, Marcos Alonso, Luiz and new signing Jorginho.
Chelsea are now on their way back to London after the whirlwind trip to Australia, with a friendly match against Inter Milan coming up on Sunday morning.
