A cunning piece of work by Carlisle United forward Hallam Hope has left the football world in hysterics.
The League Two side were trailing rivals Notts County 2-0 with 15 minutes left when the 24-year-old former Everton junior pounced.
After the Notts goalkeeper collected the ball Hope stood in goal and waited. And waited.
As soon as the gloveman rolled the ball ahead to belt it downfield, Hope made his move.

He sprinted his 18 yards, snatched the ball from the goalkeeper and tapped it in.
“Again the goalkeeper’s taking an age … Hallam Hope’s taken it off him. Shoots!” the commentator explained.
“What is the goalkeeper doing?! Dear me, I’ve not seen that since the ’90s!”
77' Clever from Hallam – he waited behind the keeper until he put the ball down to kick it, nicked it and slotted it home – come on lads! #cufc

Or, as the wire live commentary describes it: "Hallam Hope left footed shot from the centre of the box to the centre of the goal"

Unfortunately for Hope the move didn’t pay off as Notts County held Carlisle out and added another themselves to win 3-1.
The victory lifted Notts off the bottom of the 24-team table.
Carlisle, meanwhile, remain in eighth spot – one point outside the playoff places.
