Charity gets trampoline used in Olympic gold win
An East Sussex charity has received the Olympic trampoline Bryony Page used when she won her gold medal in Paris.
Page unveiled the trampoline to those at Sky High Trampoline Gymnastics Academy in Uckfield on Saturday.
The charity opened up to other clubs so they could meet Page, who secured Great Britain's first Olympic trampoline medal back in 2016.
Isaac, 11, said: "It was amazing to meet Bryony and to ask her questions about trampolining."
He said he was "completely shocked" about the Olympic trampoline.
"It’s one of the most famous trampolines, the one I’d love to train on, and it’s now going to be my every day trampoline," he said.
"Five days a week I’m going to get to go on the trampoline Bryony Page won the gold medal on. It's just amazing!”
Page said: "It's really special to be at a club like this and to see the excitement on people's faces. I think I'm just as excited to see that trampoline as they are!"
She said she hoped her "persistence and stubbornness to get to the top level" would inspire the young people there "to not give up and know that they can do it".
Coach Abi Jaques said: "I am hoping she will inspire the next generation."
Ms Jaques explained that she contacted Page through social media and although she told the children at the club the Olympian was visiting, she did not mention the trampoline.
The charity, which paid about £10,000 for the trampoline, said it was also planning to rent it out to local clubs.
