Bruce Springsteen's Daughter Jessica Left Off U.S. Olympic Team for Paris After Winning Silver in Tokyo

Springsteen, an equestrian Olympic silver medalist, made her Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2021

As the Olympic athletes make final preparations to head to Paris for the Summer Games, one previous medalist won’t be joining them this year – and she also happens to be Bruce Springsteen’s daughter.

Jessica Springsteen, 32, an equestrian Olympic silver medalist who made her Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2021, will not compete with Team USA this year following the announcement of the Paris Olympics equestrian team, according to CBS News.

On Saturday, July 6, U.S. Equestrian announced the 2024 Olympic team via a press release, and Springsteen was noticeably absent. This year’s team will consist of three members: Kent Farrington, Laura Kraut and McClain Ward. The team will also be supported by alternate member Karl Cook.

“We are very lucky to have three of the most experienced athletes in the sport riding horses that are in top form heading into the Games. Additionally, we have a strong alternate athlete horse combination in Karl and Caracole who have shown great recent form," Chef d'Equipe Robert Ridland said in the release. "Now that selection is complete, we are 100% laser-focused on Paris."

Farrington, Kraut and Ward have competed at seven Olympic games. Ward was on the U.S. gold medal-winning teams in 2004 and 2008, the latter of which Kraut was also a member. Similarly, Farrington helped Team USA win silver in 2016.

Springsteen won silver alongside current Team USA members Kraut and Ward in the three-person U.S. equestrian team.

Just before she made her Olympic debut in Tokyo, Springsteen told PEOPLE how it felt to take part in the world's most iconic sporting event.

"It's the biggest honor. Throughout my career, representing my country has been my goal, and so, to be doing so at the Olympics, it's a huge honor. I couldn't be more excited," she shared.

She also spoke about the partnership with Don Juan van de Donkhoeve, the Belgian Warmblood stallion she rides in competition.

"The partnership you have with your horse is everything, and with Don, I have a really, really strong partnership," she explained at the time. "Sometimes you get a horse and it can take you a long time to get to know each other, but with him, we came together quickly and we've been able to build on that ever since. We definitely have a lot of trust."
