“We thank everyone who has already shown the size of their hearts with heartfelt messages and flowers at the site,” Ms Garrido said.
“We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
Jimmy Martin Brito, 33, has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death and one count of causing bodily harm by misconduct.
Police allege in court documents he was driving in a “manner dangerous to another person” at the time of the impact.
His lawyer confirmed his client has spoken to the mother of the two boys, and she has offered to “stand by” him.
“He understands what happened but I don’t think he’s fully comprehended (what’s happened,)” his lawyer Mr Arya told reporters outside the court.
“I don’t think he knows if the two little ones have lost their lives.”
He was granted a two week adjournment and will front Sutherland Local Court on September 7.
