TikToker realizes she's been scammed after trying on $200 bridesmaid dress: 'My jaw dropped'

A bridesmaid dress fail is going viral on TikTok after a woman received her gown in the mail and it looked nothing like it did online.

Anna Dinh posted her reaction to the debacle on TikTok, sharing that she’d bought the $200 dress for her sister’s wedding. The reaction video now has over 2 million views.

Anna’s sister, Lynn, found a light blue gown on the website DHgate.com — an online marketplace based in China, sort of similar to popular sites like Shein.

According to both sisters, the listing described the dress as a “baby blue mermaid prom dress” with a “detachable train,” a “high-side split” and “sequined lace” details.

Lynn’s wedding, which is scheduled for August has a “starry nights” theme with a blue color scheme, so Lynn and Anna thought the dress would be perfect.

“I’m literally crying,” Anna said in her TikTok while covering her face and laughing. “[It] is so ugly.”

“MY JAW DROPPED,” one user commented.

“It’s not even close,” another added.

“When I picked it up, it was super cheap. It was just fabric and had no cushion. Everything was see-through. You could even see the cups,” Anna told Insider. “Honestly, it fit nicely and hugged my body, but everything else was terrible. There was no glitter, and it felt like it could rip if I just bent over.”

Lynn reportedly tried to ask for a refund by contacting the third-party seller who’d listed the dress on DHgate.com — but she ended up only getting back $140.

“I work at a special occasion store and we tell customers they really shouldn’t order online, but they don’t believe us!” one commenter wrote. “This stuff happens ALL the time!”
