He is now reportedly fighting for life in the intensive care unit at Rangueil hospital.

Local media reports he’s "fighting the biggest fight of his life" and is "between life and death.”

"The judicial police are in charge of the attempted homicide investigation,” Public prosecutor Dominique Alzeari is quoted as saying.

The boxer, nicknamed Hercules, defeated Brandon Deslaurier in December to claim the national title.

The 31-year-old has won 11 of his 13 professional bouts, eight by knockout.
