Bochum climb out of Bundesliga danger zone with win

Bochum have climbed from last place out of the Bundesliga danger zone for at least 24 hours with a 2-0 victory at Cologne.

Kevin Stoger converted a ninth-minute penalty and Erhan Masovic netted into the top left corner in the 76th as Bochum won in Cologne for the first time since 2004 and only the second time overall.

Bochum ended a run of four defeats and with the victory rose from 18th to 14th, two points ahead of Hertha Berlin and three clear of VfB Stuttgart, Hoffenheim and Schalke.

Cologne are five points ahead of Bochum in 12th after a fourth game without victory.

The other matchday 24 games are Saturday and Sunday with Schalke hosting second-placed Borussia Dortmund in the Ruhr derby and leaders Bayern Munich playing Augsburg, who handed them one of their two league defeats in the reverse fixture.
