Boakye delighted with Zvezda's qualification to Europa League knockout stage

Exclusive: The former Phobians boss believes the striker's decision to play in China should be accepted

Ghana striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom has expressed his satisfaction following FK Crvena Zvezda's qualification to the Europa League round of 32, with the draw scheduled to be held on Monday.

The Serbian giants defeated FC Cologne 1-0 at home thanks to Slavoljub Srnic's 22nd minute strike, to finish second with nine points behind Premier League side Arsenal in Group H.

Prior to the last group game, Boakye's side were tied on the same points and goals with Cologne and anything aside a win would've jeopardized their dreams.

Although, the former Juventus striker could not find the back of the net in the final game, he has been able to score many goals so far in the competition from the preliminary round to help push Vladan Milojevic's men through to this stage.

Zvezda have become the first-ever club to start the Europa League in the first qualifying round and making it to the knock-out stage.

Also in Group A, Patrick Twumasi was in action for Astana when they picked a crucial 1-0 win over Slavia Praha to finish second behind Villarreal but Kadri Mohammed's dreams were dashed after Austria Wien could only share the spoils goalless with AEK Athens and finished at the foot of Group D.
