Blake Griffin inactive for Game 2 against the Bucks due to knee injury

Detroit Pistons big man Blake Griffin tried to return to the court sooner than expected, but will still need some time to recover from a knee injury. Despite taking part in the team’s shootaround Wednesday, Griffin is listed as inactive for Game 2 against the Milwaukee Bucks.

While Yahoo Sports’ Vincent Goodwill reported Griffin would likely miss the entire series against the Bucks, the 30-year-old Griffin was spotted putting up shots prior to Wednesday’s game.

As that video shows, Griffin was able to put in some work, but he wasn’t going at anything close to max effort. Griffin has dealt with the issue since March, and has missed a number of games due to the injury.

Despite that, Pistons coach Dwane Casey didn’t rule out Griffin returning for Wednesday’s game, saying “We’ll find out” when asked whether Griffin would play. Griffin has been pushing to get back on the court.

In 75 games this season, Griffin has averaged 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game.

Without Griffin, the Pistons didn’t stand a chance against the Bucks. Milwaukee took Game 1 by a score of 121-86.

Getting Griffin back on the court would help, but the Pistons don’t want to risk his long-term health. Griffin is under contract with the team through the 2021-22 season.
