All-Blacks captain caught up in Christchurch lockdown

All-Blacks captain Kieran Read has posted to Instagram while caught in lockdown at his daughters’ primary school after the mass shootings in Christchurch.

Read posted a picture from the empty school hall to Instagram as he waited to gather his children.

“Sending my thoughts to all victims today,” the Instagram story read. “Locked in the school hall waiting for the girls.”

Lockdowns are still in effect across Christchurch as police respond.

Four people are in custody after a gunman opened fire at two mosques in Christchurch, with multiple people confirmed dead.

World in shock

The world has been stunned by the horrifying events in Christchurch.

The Bangladesh Cricket Team had to flee one of the mosques on foot.

A Test match scheduled to be played against New Zealand has been cancelled in light of the shootings.

All-Blacks great Sonny Bill Williams was moved to tears by the events.

A devout Muslim, Williams said he “couldn’t put into words how he was feeling”.

“Just heard the news i couldn’t put it into words how I’m feeling right now,” Williams said in the video.

“Just sending my duas to the families. Apparently there’s close to 30 people dead.”
