'So grateful': Teen champ reveals heartwarming letter from stranger
Canadian tennis star Bianca Andreescu has been one of the breakout stars of world sport in 2019, but an anonymous letter given to her aboard a flight moved the US Open winner to tears.
Andreescu, 19, shot to prominence when she defeated Serena Williams in the final of the US Open earlier this year, as well as climbing as high as number four in the world rankings.

On her way to China to compete in the WTA Tour Finals, Andreescu took to social media to share a note left for her on the plane by an anonymous passenger, who signed the message simply as ‘A Canadian’.
“Thank you. I have two young daughters, you have inspired them deeply,” the note read.

“Neither are tennis players but they both know what you have done. Because of you, they know that nothing is impossible if they want it enough.
“As a parent, I am so grateful for the positive impact you have made on my kids’ life.
“Thank you, and may your journey bring you as much joy as you have brought others.”
Andreescu shared an image of the message on her Instagram story, thanking the person who wrote it and saying it made her feel ‘fulfilled’.
“The best thing about what I do is this,” Andreescu wrote.
“It brought tears to my eyes because sometimes I don’t understand the impact I’ve made, and continue to make in people’s lives accomplishing what I’ve accomplished.
“Receiving this makes me feel so fulfilled.
“I’ve always wanted to do good in this world somehow and have a positive impact on people’s lives. I’m very grateful to have a platform in which I can achieve that.
“So thank you to the guy that wrote me this and to everyone who has sent me mail or message requests, I’m beyond grateful.”
Andreescu became the first Canadian woman to hold a WTA rank higher than four this season, as well as leapfrogging Eugenie Bouchard as the highest ranked Canadian of all time.
