Bettor turns $50 into more than $1 million thanks to wild 15-leg parlay

Over the course of six days, one BetMGM customer in Virginia managed to turn $50 into more than $1 million thanks to a wild 15-leg parlay.

And it came down to the final minute of Sunday’s Baltimore Ravens vs. Chicago Bears game.

Before that, the bettor was on the right side of 14 wagers that spanned everything from the NHL to college basketball to the LPGA tour. But to bring home $1,133,530.50, the bettor was relying on Tyler Huntley of all people.

Huntley started at quarterback for the Ravens in place of Lamar Jackson, who was inactive due to an illness. Predictably, the game did not have much offense. The Bears went ahead 13-9 with 1:41 to play when Andy Dalton, in the game for an injured Justin Fields, found Marquise Goodwin behind the defense for a 49-yard touchdown.

That put the ball back in the hands of Huntley, the undrafted second-year pro making his first career start. Improbably, Huntley came through and led the Ravens right down the field for the winning touchdown. DeVonta Freeman plunged in from three yards out with just 22 seconds remaining to give Baltimore a victory and clinch this bettor’s unbelievable parlay.

The odds of all 15 legs hitting, per BetMGM, were +22670.61.

Here is the full rundown of plays:

It started in the NHL on Tuesday night where the Vegas Golden Knights hosted the Carolina Hurricanes. The Knights fell behind 2-0, so the bettor kicked off his parlay with a live bet on the Knights +2.5 goals at -105 odds. The Knights would tie the score at 2-2 after two periods but ended up losing 4-2. Still, it was enough to cover the 2.5 goals and kick off an epic parlay.

From there, the bettor hit on five consecutive college basketball plays. Cal State Fullerton beat George Washington, Rhode Island covered as 5.5-point favorites over Boston College, UConn covered as 24.5-point favorites over Long Island, Miami (Ohio) covered as 9.5-point favorites over Stetson, Wake Forest covered the 19.5-point spread vs. Charleston Southern and Michigan State covered the spread vs. Butler.

Before the weekend, the bettor also won on an NBA game, two NHL games and Thursday Night Football in the NFL.

The NBA win was the Atlanta Hawks beating the Boston Celtics, 110-99. In the NHL, the bettor had puckline bets on the Colorado Avalanche vs. the Vancouver Canucks and the Washington Capitals vs. the Los Angeles Kings. The Avs won 4-2 and the Caps won 2-0.

Next came the New England Patriots, who blew out the Atlanta Falcons, 25-0, to easily keep the parlay chugging along.

In college football, the bettor had two more moneyline plays — Houston (-300) vs. Memphis on Friday night and then Oklahoma (-175) vs. Iowa State on Saturday. Both games were close in the fourth quarter. Iowa State even had the chance to tie the game in the final minutes, but couldn’t do it. Houston won 31-13 and Oklahoma won 28-21.

And then in the LPGA, Jin Young Ko put together an epic performance to win the Tour Championship. Ko's victory had the longest odds — +500 — of any part of the parlay, but she closed with a 9-under 63 and a one-shot victory Sunday.

All that was left was the Ravens beating the Bears. The bettor got the Ravens at -250 on the moneyline when it looked like Lamar Jackson would be able to play. The spread dropped all the way to Ravens -1.5 at BetMGM at kickoff, but they still came through in the end thanks to a strong defense, some clutch throws from Huntley and the game-winning touchdown run by Freeman.

That’s the kind of win every average bettor dreams about.
