'What are you doing?': NBA erupts over phantom foul

NBA players, commentators and fans have blown up over a shocking decision in Oklahoma City's clash with the Warriors on Wednesday.

Thunder star Russell Westbrook drove to the basket around a screen from teammate Steven Adams and slipped as his former teammate Kevin Durant began to close in.

The nearby referee sent Westbrook to the line for two free throws, calling a foul on Golden State.

Replays showed Westbrook well clear of any other player when he went to ground.

"He slipped," said TNT commentator Reggie Miller.

"That's almost blatant. I'm wondering what Lauren (Holtkamp, the referee) is looking at. Seriously. What are you doing?"

The Oracle Arena crowd roared 'ref, you suck!' during Westbrook's free throws as social media erupted over the poor decision.

Oklahoma City led 95-73 at the time after a dominant display against a frustrated Warriors team that had Draymond Green ejected in the fourth quarter.
