Ball boy nails hat-trick of half-court shots to rapturous applause

An 11-year-old ball boy had the night of his life at a recent University of North Carolina basketball game.

Asher Lucas, the son of a journalist who reports on the Tar Heels, took the court with other ball kids at half-time of Carolina's game against NC State on January 8.

Feeling a little ambitious, Asher took a very confident shot from half-court and drew some applause from the crowd.

He must have known it was his lucky day because he didn't wait long to attempt a second shot, which never looked in doubt.

The cheers grew louder and it drew Asher into taking a third shot at glory.

This time it sounded as though the entire stadium was watching, with a majority of the crowd jumping up with their hands in the air and screaming as the boy's shot fell for a hat-trick.

The boy's father, Adam, uploaded the footage to YouTube, and it may not be the last time he does so if Asher's amazing shots are any indication.
