Pay up, coach! NBL's shortest player dunks for steak dinner

It's often thought that great dunks can only be produced by basketball's big men.

Fans only need to revisit the dunk-contest exploits of Nate Robinson and Spud Webb to know that's not the case, with the two former NBA stars combining for four titles despite standing just 175 and 170 centimetres respectively.

Now the phenomenon has made its way to Australian shores through another 175cm American player, and for Adelaide 36ers coach Joey Wright it might be something to regret.

Jerome Randle joined the team midway through last season and has lit up the NBL with sublime ball-handling skills and impressive shooting numbers, though today he put on a show not for the fans but for his teammates.

"Bet: If @handlebyrandle dunks it @thewrightcoach12 will buy the team a steak dinner," wrote 36ers captain Mitch Creek.

Wright must have thought he was in the clear, but the snappy Randle proved him wrong.

His teammates went wild at the high-stakes dunk and Creek clearly couldn't believe his luck as he hashtagged the post with #GouchosBrazilianSteakhouse and #BookTheTable.

Even Randle's manager, who sells his clients' talents to teams around the world, was dumbstruck.

"I'm his agent and even I didn't know he could do this," Daniel Moldovan wrote on Twitter.
