Basketballer costs his team victory with horror own basket

Talk about a bad day at the office!

In the Greek League playoffs Aris defeated Ae Nea Kifisia 108-103 on overtime, but Kifisia had the game wrapped up in regulation, leading 95-93 with just seconds remaining.

Woops!
Woops!

Enter Jermaine Marshall, with one of the biggest brain snaps of all time.

As time was expiring his teammate grabbed a rebound and as they attempted to run the clock down and claim the victory, Marshall inexplicably put the ball through his own hoop in a moment of madness where he forgot which way his team was playing.

Did he not question why he was unguarded under the hoop? Who knows, but either way, they blew a golden opportunity to square the series at 1-1.

A chorus of boos rained down from the crowd as disbelief took hold once they had realised what had happened.

Not the buzzer-beater you're after in that situation. Maybe he should take notes from some of these frantic finishes.
