NBA star breaks down after death of coach's wife

Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant has walked out of a press conference in tears after attempting to speak about the death of assistant coach Monty Williams' wife.

Ingrid Williams, 44, passed away after she was involved in a car accident on Wednesday.

"I thought about what I was going to say, but I just love Coach Monty so much, man. I feel for him, man. And it's somebody we all love, I just don't understand. I'm sorry, excuse me," Durant said.

Ingrid Williams' vehicle was struck head-on by a car travelling in the opposite direction that veered across the median strip. Three of the couple's five children were in the car but were unharmed. The driver of the other car was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The Thunder organisation has heavy hearts tonight with the news of Ingrid’s passing," the Thunder said in a statement.
