Caroline Wozniacki took centre stage after her Australian Open triumph, but a young Aussie girl stole the limelight.

In a gripping climax to one of the most memorable women's Opens on record, Wozniacki wore down battered top seed Simona Halep 7-6 (7-2) 3-6 6-4 in two hours and 49 minutes of incredibly intense tennis on Saturday night.

The Great Dane wept tears of joy in a beautiful victory speech, however a number of onlookers felt another young lady was the star of the show in the trophy presentation.

A young Hot Shots participant by the name of Ruby was invited to be a part of the presentation, and even got to help in handing the trophy over to Wozniacki.

She smiled with delight as her name was announced to the Rod Laver Arena crowd, and took pride of place directly behind the microphone during the speeches.

That meant her every brilliant reaction was caught on camera, and fans immediately fell in love.









Ruby's awesome moment immediately brought back memories of the young AusKick kid who also stole the show during the AFL grand final medal presentations.

The young boy named Mac became an instant hero with a hilariously delivered message to Richmond star Jack Riewoldt.
