Australia have gone down fighting in mixed teams badminton at the Commonwealth Games, taking a game off top-seeds India.
India had secured their final group contest by winning the first three matches when Wendy Chen and Gronya Somerville took on Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Pullela in women's doubles.
The Australians won an absorbing duel 21-13 21-19 - the first match the defending Games champions dropped in three group clashes.
Somerville then backed up in the mixed doubles with Ying Lin, but they lost in straight games.
Tran Pham and Jack Yu also pushed their opponents in men's doubles, but lost in straight games as well.
Australia will not advance to Sunday's quarter-finals after losing to Sri Lanka 3-2 and beating Pakistan earlier on Saturday 3-2.
