What is Austin Butler's net worth?

Austin Butler, man who remains possessed by Elvis Presley’s vocal cords is...how do we put this subtly: RICH! But what is his actual net worth?

While Austin’s A-list status has been established by Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Elvis, he’s actually been working for years. Like, this man didn’t suffer through Switched at Birth and Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure to not get paid. So it’s hardly a huge shock that Austin is worth millions. Several millions, in fact. Time to dive into his net worth, much like Austin dove into method acting with all his heart, bless.

How much did Austin Butler make for Elvis?

Reliable sites like the Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Deadline and Forbes haven’t reported on Austin’s Elvis salary, but there are rumors out there claiming he made $700,000 for the role, which makes sense because he was fairly unknown at the time — something Elvis’ casting director confirmed.

“I had a list of my own people. When we got to Austin, I said, ‘This is your Elvis,’ and Baz [Luhrmann, director] just looked at me,” casting director Denise Chamian told Variety back in July 2022.

“It’s a pretty big statement to make. Shortly thereafter, I had Austin go on tape and that started the process of Baz meeting with him, doing a workshop in New York and we tested him along with other actors. Until we did the screen tests, I don’t think it was clear to anybody, necessarily, that it was going to be Austin. There were a lot of factors to really consider. He was also pretty much unknown out of that group of guys.”

What about his various TV shows?

Tragically, not a lot of research and attention has been paid to the salary of former ABC Family stars, which is completely unacceptable.

However, former ABC Family star Shailene Woodley of critically not-that-acclaimed series Secret Life of the American Teenager made a reported $40,000 per episode back in her day, so...maaaaaaaybe Austin made around the same?

Meanwhile, we mustn’t forget that Austin also appeared on The Shannara Chronicles, which was a show on MTV about a buncha hot people trying to rid the world of an ancient demon. Honestly, it sounds incredible, and — yet again — Austin’s salary is unknown. However! MTV has been known to pay as little as $2,000 to its stars (Laguna Beach) to as much as $150,000 per episode (the heyday of Jersey Shore).

Nowadays, things are likely different for the star, who, only a week after wrapping Elvis, went off to begin shooting the Apple TV+ miniseries Masters of the Air with fellow A-list hotties Barry Keoghan (aka hot Saltburn guy) and Callum Turner (aka Dua Lipa's hot kinda sorta boyfriend).

Apparently, the actor's Elvis costar, Tom Hanks, served as an executive producer on the show, which wound up being the reason Austin joined the project. “I was having dinner with Tom Hanks in Australia and he was sort of joking saying, ‘You’re going to lose your mind when you finish this three years of your life focused on this one thing, you’re gonna have to find something else to jump right into right afterward,'" the celeb began during a January interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

“And the other producer Pat McCormick, who is a good friend of mine, he said, ‘Well Tom, find him something to do,’ and then Tom said, ‘Well I’ve got this World War II thing I’m working on.’”

The more you know!

So, What Is Austin Butler’s total net worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Austin has $4 million in the bank. Seems like a lot considering he “only” got paid $700,000 for his most famous role — but this could have something to do with the fact that he’s starring in the upcoming Dune 2 and presumably commanded a pretty high post-Elvis paycheck.

Either way, expect Austin to stay humble. As he told Backstage, “If you let your head get too big, it’ll break your neck. I did a short film about this dog who gets turned into a boy. I played the dog who turns into a boy.”

[Interrupting to say that the movie in question is The Faithful, which I’ll be watching ASAP]

“I look back on the Nickelodeon and Disney shows that I did; even though my skill wasn’t there, I still wanted to give the energy [as if] I was going to make Raging Bull,” Austin added. “I kept that fierce dedication toward trying to find more truth, even in things where it could be easier to just phone it in.”
