Aussie duo in title hunt in Abu Dhabi

·1-min read

Young Australian duo Kelsey Bennett and Cassie Porter have some big rewards in sight going into the final round of the Women's Amateur Asia Pacific Championship in Abu Dhabi.

But Bennett and Porter will have to overcome a formidable hurdle in the form of Natthakritta Vongtaveelap of Thailand, who has a three-shot lead as she attempts to complete a wire-to-wire victory at the National course.

Vongtaveelap finished birdie, eagle on Friday to get to 15 under.

Bennett shot a three-under 69 to be outright third, two behind the leader and one behind Japan's Mizuki Hashimoto and that trio will share the final group again on Saturday.

Porter shot a flawless 68 to be a further shot back in a tie for fourth with Malaysia's Ashley Lau.

The winner after Saturday's final round will get entry into two major championships - the Women's British Open and the Evian Championship - and will also get to tee up in the Augusta National Women's Amateur in the week before the Masters.
