'Pathetic' act of disrespect leaves Aussie cricket star fuming

Fans and players have reacted with shock and anger after one of the most unsavoury acts of poor sportsmanship in years.

Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting was playing in the Caribbean Premier League on Friday when he received a double finger salute after being dismissed by Pakistani bowler Sohail Tanvir.

Tanvir was caught on camera raising the middle finger of both his hands in Cutting’s direction after clean-bowling him.

The Pakistani appeared to be upset that Cutting hit him for six on his previous delivery.

Fellow Aussie batsman Chris Lynn reacted with anger after seeing the incident.

Fans were also shocked by Tanvir’s disrespectful act.

Cutting made 15 off 14 balls playing for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots against the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the T20 tournament.

Tanvir is sure to come in for some sort of sanction, with the ICC cracking down on unsavoury send-offs in recent years.

It’s not the first unsportsmanlike act in cricket of late

A club bowler in England who denied an opponent a century with a ‘pathetic’ act of poor sportsmanship has copped a huge ban.

The unnamed English bowler who threw the ball to the boundary to concede five runs, leaving batsman Jay Darrell not out on 98, has been banned from the Somerset Cricket League for nine games.

The SCL released a statement detailing their response to the recent incident which occurred between Minehead and Purnell.

“The Somerset Cricket League has noted the details of an incident that occurred in the Division 2 match between Minehead 2nd XI v Purnells CC, played on 4th August 2018,” the statement read.

“The SCL Disciplinary Committee has reviewed the incident. The incident in its opinion brought the SCL and Cricket in general into disrepute and contained behaviour that was against the Spirit of the Game.

“As a result of this review, a Purnells CC player has been banned for the next 9 completed SCL matches.”

The incident earned the attention of cricket fans around the world, who were outraged by the act of poor sportsmanship, in a sport that prides itself on its good ethics.
