Atleti beat Sevilla to extend La Liga lead

Atletico Madrid have accounted for Sevilla 2-0 to increase their advantage at the top of La Liga to four points.

Atleti, who have two games in hand over their top-four challengers, moved clear of cross-town rivals Real Madrid as Diego Simeone's team challenges for a first league title since 2014.

Correa gave the hosts the lead in the 17th minute after collecting a pass from Kieran Trippier in the box and controlling the ball with his right foot before swivelling and slotting a low shot into the net with his left.

Niguez came off the bench at the Wanda Metropolitano to add the second in the 76th.

Marcos Llorente made a run down the right flank before sending in a low cross to Niguez, who had plenty of time to control the ball before scoring with a low shot from the edge of the area.

It was a fifth-straight league win for Atletico, who bounced back from being eliminated in the Copa del Rey by third-tier club Cornella last week.

Granada beat Osasuna 2-0 to leave the strugglers second bottom.

Colombian striker Luis Suarez opened the scoring on 22 minutes, after Osasuna failed to clear a corner, while Darwin Machis provoked the second just before halftime when his corner was turned in by goalkeeper Sergio Herrera.

The win consolidated Granada's grip on seventh place.
