Athletics Australia's head coach Christian Malcolm has quit, less than a year before the rescheduled Tokyo Olympics.
Malcolm is returning to the United Kingdom to take up a job as UK Athletics' head coach despite being under contract in Australia.
The Welsh-born Malcolm took a three-year contract with Australia in 2018.
Athletics Australia's chief executive Darren Gocher said a replacement will be sought before the Tokyo Games scheduled to start in late July next year.
"Our attention is now squarely focused on the upcoming summer program and Olympic Games in Tokyo next year," Gocher said in a statement.
"Athletics Australia has built robust structures and systems along with a stable of excellent coaches that place us in good stead as we move forward with our high performance program."
