Arsenal are looking to continue their transfer spending despite a second major signing of the summer.

Serious money has been spent on Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira after the arrivals of Marquinhos and Matt Turner.

Next up on Mikel Arteta’s agenda is a defender with Lisandro Martinez still a key target.

There are also potential moves for Amadou Onana and Gianluca Scamacca in the offing, altough the Italian striker appears set to move elsewhere.

Here is your latest update of Arsenal news and rumours...

Lisandro Martinez

Manchester United are seeking to speed up their bid for Lisandro Martinez as Ajax mull over their decision between transfer bids from the Red Devils and Arsenal, according to De Telegraaf.

It has been widely reported, most recently by the Mirror, that the Argentine defender is desperate to move to the Premier League this summer amid his club’s demands for £45million.

The Gunners reportedly regard Martinez’s combative style as a huge asset to his potential arrival, with Fabrizio Romano stating that Arsenal are “fighting” for his signature amid Erik ten Hag’s push to sign his old player.

West Ham have had a bid of £19m rejected by Lille for Belgian midfielder Onana, according to The Athletic.

Arsenal reportedly held talks with the player’s camp last week to gauge a potential move after he broke out in Ligue 1 last season.

But it is now claimed that Lille regard the 20-year-old as not for sale.

Gianluca Scamacca

Arsenal are set to miss out on Scamacca after Paris Saint-Germain moved forward with a £43m deal for the Italian striker.

Whether or not the Gunners would have plumped for both Scamacca and Gabriel Jesus appears to be immaterial with the Sassuolo man now set to link-up with Kylian Mbappe.

Le Parisien report on PSG wanting the pair to form a partnership akin to Mbappe’s with Radamel Falcao at Monaco.
