After nearly a two-year layoff, Amir Khan returns to the ring on Saturday, as he faces Phil Lo Greco in a welterweight non-title showdown from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England.
Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) last fought in May 2016, moving up two weight classes to face then-WBC middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. For the first four rounds, the two-time welterweight champion used his speed to overwhelm Alvarez but Canelo's power was too much for Khan. He was brutally knocked out in the sixth round.
The 31-year-old decided to take some time off and focused on outside ventures including being an owner of an Indian-based MMA promotion, Super Fight League and co-founding Super Boxing League.
Lo Greco, 33, (28-3, 16 KOs) enters this bout, winning his last fight versus Jesus Gurrola by majority decision. In the past, the Canadian faced former welterweight champion Shawn Porter and current IBF welterweight titleholder, Errol Spence Jr. He lost to Porter by unanimous decision and suffered a vicious third-round knockout to Spence.
