The future is here. And obviously, we have Amazon to thank for it.

The retailer revealed a bunch of its newest devices at a digital event yesterday. Among the game-changing gadgets coming soon to Amazon in the near future? An actual robot. Amazon Astro is the brand’s household robot designed to monitor your home while you’re away.

Amazon Astro features artificial intelligence, computer vision, sensor technology and Intelligent Motion to help it easily navigate your home. Whether you’re at work or on vacation, you can use Alexa to send Amazon Astro to basically any room to ensure everything is in order.

Another cool way to use Amazon Astro? Like your own personal assistant. There’s a small base on the back that you can drop things in to have them delivered to people or pets in other rooms. Don’t want to leave the kitchen to take your roommate the remote? Have Amazon Astro do it for you.

One other really funny feature that the robot displayed yesterday? Amazon Astro beatboxes. And like, it’s actually pretty good!

Some people might not like the idea of a robot rolling around their home keeping tabs on things, while others are like, sign me up! If you fall into the latter category, head over to Amazon ASAP to request an invitation to purchase Amazon Astro when it’s available. It will only be made in limited quantities, and right now, the price is $999.99. According to our sources at Amazon, it will eventually go up to $1,449.99, so don’t miss out on the deal.
