Amari Cooper out Sunday vs. Chiefs after Cowboys place him on COVID-19 list

Amari Cooper is out for two games after being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The Dallas Cowboys placed the star wide receiver on the list Friday, according to the team's website. Placement on the list means Cooper has either tested positive for COVID-19 or was a close contact with an infected person while being unvaccinated.

According to ESPN's Todd Archer, Cooper is also out for next week's Thanksgiving game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

What will Cowboys do without Amari Cooper?

Whenever Cooper returns, him missing Sunday's game is already a significant loss for the Cowboys, who will be facing a Chiefs team looking to prove its resurgence is real. The Cowboys are 2.5-point underdogs at BetMGM with the game total at 55.5.

Through nine games this season, Cooper has caught 44 of 65 targets for 583 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

The good news for Dallas is that Michael Gallup made his return last week, so the team likely won't have to dip much deeper into its wide receiver depth chart than it already had been. Gallup, CeeDee Lamb and Cedrick Wilson figure to see the lion's share of snaps at the position. All three players are also on the Cowboys' injury report this week, but none was limited in practice and carry no injury designation going into Sunday.
