'Alonso's Leverkusen are combining a number of different styles'

Statman Dave has been assessing Xabi Alonso's tactical approach and how it compares to possible other managerial targets for Liverpool.

"One of the biggest things with Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen is they're combining a number of different styles," he told BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club.

"You can put it down to Jurgen Klopp's pressing, Pep Guardiola's positional play.

"You look at their build-up structure and it looks like Roberto De Zerbi's Brighton or Unai Emery's Aston Villa with a 4-2-2-2 setup, very asymmetrical."
