Aldi scam warning after girl tries to apply for a job

A warning has been issued to consumers after a girl fell victim to scammers posing as an employee for Aldi.

The girl was looking for work on Friday and clicked on a link included in an email she thought was from an Aldi employee.

“Our director wants you to start working there, so they scheduled an entrance exam for you tomorrow, and you’re at work immediately,” part of the email read.

“We need you to access the site right now. Look for the option ‘send resume’ and confirm you want to take the exam to work.

“Do not forget to inform a contact telephone number and choose the desired time for the interview.”

There were two links to websites included in the email, one of which was clicked on by the girl.

“My daughter is looking for work and clicked on a link for work with your company but the reply looks like a scam message. Can you please confirm if this is legitimate?” the girl’s dad wrote to Twitter.

The supermarket replied with the news he didn’t want to hear, confirming his daughter had in fact been directed to a illegitimate website.

“This is not a legitimate message from Aldi and needs to be reported to the ACCC Scamwatch,” an employee responded.

They encouraged the dad to report his daughter’s experience to “stop these types of scams” and provided the correct link for job vacancies at Aldi.
